Joplin tornados

Updated:

Checks can be made out to Union for Reform Judaism with Joplin Relief in the memo line or made out to Spirit of Christ MCC with Joplin Relief in the memo line.
Both the synagogue and the MCC were hit by the tornado. MCC during services. Most of the congregation made it to the basement, however the pastor, who was directing people to shelter did not and as was killed. The synagogue did not lose its building.
In both cases, many lost their homes.

Central Reform Congregation in St. Louis (were I am still a member) is collecting on behalf of both the synagogue and the MCC. If someone wants to directly mail to them, their web site is http://www.centralreform.org/home.html  and mailing address is:
5020 Waterman Blvd.
St. Louis, Missouri 63108

Direct online donations may be made at:
http://urj.org/socialaction/issues/relief/ (put Joplin Relief in notes section)

Help Joplin tornado survivors - What can you do? How about sending Visa or MC gift cards? Central Reform Congregation in St. Louis is helping collect and deliver donations for the local relief agencies in Joplin. I'm (Vicki Hudson) a member of CRC from when I lived in St. Louis so know if you send something it will get where intended.

If you go to the CRC web site, there is a list of items, but given how far away and shipping times (unless you do what I did, which was take advantage of amazon.com and prime free two day shipping) the best, fastest way to help would be mail something small, quick. Gift cards are easy to get (Safeway) in many denominations. Drop in Thursday's mail and they'll arive in 3 or 4 days.

Skip a night out this weekend and help Joplin instead.

Mail to CRC, Attn Joplin Relief, 5020 Waterman Blvd. St. Louis, MO, 63108.
