It is rumored that the first word I ever uttered gave her such satisfaction that she said it twice, "Author! Author!" Finding stories in everything I do, I have made my living as a non-profit administrator and small business owner throughout my career. My checkered past has provided me with opportunities to revel in language, whether through structured business plans, reports, grant applications, marketing materials (print and online), or speeches, presentations, and letters to lift and inspire.
Currently, I'm continuing work on a compelling, character-driven novel about a Holocaust survivor who travels to Poland to reconnect with his past, and discovers that the choices we make frame our destiny, and the treasures we seek are not always what we may have anticipated. My writing style is varied, but in fiction I enjoy indulging myself in the love affair I have with words. My current project is literary fiction and has allowed me a broad sweeping canvas upon which to paint pictures in words, engage in dialgogues with fascinating people, and imerse myself in researching a subject matter close to my soul. In order to avoid post-partum blues, once finished I intend to begin work on a prequel to the novel to remain focused on my life as a writer.
I'm a member of WNBA - SF Chapter, and a Santa Rosa critique group. Having attended my second (2012) SF Writers Conference I wish to extend my deepest appreciation to all concerned for providing such an experientially rich event. It was packed with invaluable information, amazing people, and gifted experts who gave generously of both time and wisdom. Discovering this ongoing forum as a way to continue learning how to hone my craft was an added bonus.
I live in Santa Rosa, CA with my fiancé, dog and cat. I love the individual journey of the writer's life, the chance to live several lives without leaving my chair, the discipline of our craft, and the creative process of birthing new ideas. Conversely, the isolation that such work demands can be difficult, and I welcome local writers to contact me to build closer (in person) relationships within our area.
