People, this is your lucky day! When I attended the PNWA Summer Writers Conference a week ago, I brought along my Netbook. I took detailed notes in every class I attended, so I could share them with all my friends, right here on SFwritersU! Class titles included:
- How to Hook the Reader
- Pitch Perfect with Chuck Sambuchino
- The Road to Publication
- The Unforgettable Heroine with Jane Porter
- How to Set Up an Author Blog Tour
- Writing in Scenes
- Creating Plots for Page-Turners with Robert Dugoni
- Historical Fiction Is Making a Comeback
- Self-Promotion for the Introvert
- An Editor's Forum (Q & A)
- The Road to Publication
I took extensive notes in all the classes listed above. Some of you may have been there as well, and if you took notes on classes I was unable to attend, I'd love to see those. Send them to me, please, so I can post your notes as well.
As you all know, it's bad manners to direct traffic away from SFwritersU to my own blog, so I'll just say this: if you want to see my class notes, go to my profile page. My blog's URL is listed there.
Just so the SFwritersU moderators don't hate me for posting this, let me also say that I gathered the business cards of about 50 writers, and I plan to email all of them with a link to SFwritersU, to help build our forum here. I also spread the word at the conference by word of mouth, so maybe we'll soon see a jump in readership right here on our nifty forum!
Oh yeah, and if you want to see the notes on my blog, you have to either click "journal online" or in the side margin, look for "Craft of Writing".

Hi Mechelle! I'm definitely interested in your class summaries since I had to participate in the Willamette Writers Conference, which was the same weekend as PNWA and I missed it! How about if you either copy and paste from your personal blog to your SFWU blog so your class notes show up in both places? Otherwise, feel free to put a link in a short SFWU blog post so folks can hop on over to your personal blog. You are such a generous and honorable person I am so glad you're involved in SFWU!
