About Me

Wanted to attend the SFWU, an event with many opportunities to learn and share. I was selected as a finalist in poetry, but unfortunately was unable to attend.

I love to write novels, poetry, short stories, screenplays, current events and politics. Novels in progress (everything to me is always in progress):

SYLPHS: have completed over 60 thousand words on the once Arch Angel of Light who during the sixth millennium comes upon a female he is compelled to protect and falls in love. Because of his “love” sin, the Almighty damns him to life eternal without a soul. The story ends in modern times, when from his descendants, he creates a new race of beings. Some in the critique/writers group I belong to compare it to “Lost Paradise” and as “a wonderful way of putting across the surreal; a literary fantasy; a hypnotic; blend of drama and mysticism.”

Crackararas: (Sanskrit for moving in circles) is an epic novel, about cliff dwellers who had abandoned their established land to start a new culture without the sins of their past and find themselves to be repeating their old ways.

Shoeshine for a Dime: A based on fact story of a boy born out of wedlock and in poverty in a third world country who becomes a wealthy man; could be a young adult novel.

Screenplays: Rock Me Gently; A girl that once had polio dreams of becoming a dancer and does but is forced to face the past and change her future. Judy Malone; a widow falls in love and re-marries, betrayed by her new husband, in her losses gains the strength to find her truth.

Hi Marta, thanks for connecting!

Welcome to SFWU, Marta!

Thanks for the invite; am so grateful to know a poet.

On the Poetry Contest Winner blog post, are you asking the question about the "misunderstanding" of the contest rules? I never saw the rules (when dated, etc.) so if the rules were prior to December, perhaps he met the criteria; however, if the rules were dated after Dec. 6 (the pub date), then, you have a valid point.

Happy writings!

Hi Marta - Thanks for adding me! Congrats on your poetry win. Your projects sound interesting, especially the Shoeshine for a Dime story. Could you do me a favor and read my excerpt that I posted from The Beauty and the Hag in the critiques section? I would appreciate it. That is the story that I am working on (it's currently undergoing the second draft).

Oh, Butterfly Tree - it's a beautiful thought!

Hi Marta--thanks for the friend request, and for your comment on my profile. Too bad you couldn't make the SFWC--it was fantastic, and I would have loved to meet you in person. I know the sessions were recorded, so you'll be able to access them on the site soon (if not already). I'll be looking out for the ones I missed. Thanks again for contacting me!

Hi Marta - Thanks for the friend invite!

Thank you RagDollie, I am very excited.

Hi, Marta,  Only another writer would know how good it feels to hear someone else say 'your story sounds interesting'.  Thank you so much.  I'm quite new here on this site so I sure hope I'm not putting this in the wrong place.  Amazingly enough I'm almost finish with the story (with the exception of some serious editing, of course) except for a HUGE piece near the end.  Imagine I've already written the ending ... LOL.  I've been trying to work up the nerve to post a bit of it here for some unbiased feedback.  What do you think?

Thank you for the friend request as its hard to find others who understand what this journey is all about.

Hi Marta, I really enjoyed reading your bio. Welcome to SFWU. There are many resources here as well as safe friendly faces. I have learned a lot lerking around here so take advantage of everything available. It is good to have you here. :)
