I've been writing for close to six years now in a variety of genres, mainly romance under another name. This year I decided to embark on a brand new adventure by signing up for a 6 month Steampunk novel workshop, and I'm having a wonderful time. Since March 7th I've written 52,000 words and expect my novel to end somewhere around 90,000 to 95,000 words. While it will read as a stand-alone novel, I have interest in writing a 4 or 5 book series.
UPDATE: It took 3 months, but I completed my 90,000 word steampunk mystery novel :) I'm now beginning on the editing stage. This will be a five book series.
At the same time I'm working on a zombie series, a romantic suspense trilogy, and I have another steampunk series in mind. Oh to clone myself!
My son is graduating this year, my only baby, so perhaps it's good that I will have all these wonderful characters to keep me company :)
UPDATE: My website is now up and running :) It's still bare bones, but I aim to change that! http://www.marieandrewsauthor.com

Log in to leave a review or Create an accountI'm super thrilled to share that my steampunk short story Iron Butterfly is now up at Nevermet Press! It will also be included in their Stories in the Ether print anthology to release in early 2012. This is very special to me because it's my first short story published as Marie Andrews, and the artwork by J. Lonnee is AMAZING! He brought my little story to life in just one picture.

I love short stories. While I also write novellas and novels, I have the most fun with a short story. I hope you'll stop by and take a peek!
I'm still editing my steampunk novel - working out the kinks and applying a few coats of polish :) I'd wanted to be finished editing by the end of August, but I felt the second part of the book didn't have the polish of the first half. So...I continue. At the same time I've written three short stories, a novella, started a steampunk zombie novel, and had five books release under my other pen name. So, it's always busy...very little down time. I can't believe it's September so soon!
What all have you been up to this summer?
Yay Jamila :) Thrilled to see you over here as well! It was so much faster to write the novel compared to editing it, lol. *hugs*
Wonderful to meet you as well rbryant224 :)
Hi Marie! I'm a fellow ROW80er, and stumbled upon your profile over here, so I thought that I'd wave and send you a friend request. Glad to hear that progress on editing your novel is going well!
-jamila.
Nice to meet you!
Absolutely. Let me know when the chapts are done. Are you going to the conference in SF?
Haha, thank you. It's not exactly professional-looking, but I figure it's fine for now. :P
It feels like Christmas :) My website is all shiny and new and now live! http://www.marieandrewsauthor.com
Thanks for the invite! I'm knee-deep in finishing the proposal for my nf book called A Primer for Parents of Preemies. It's a small tome written in response to parental requests.
I also haven't heard of 'steampunk'...
