Sugarbones Jones Octobers Poem

This is my birthday present, another gift from my sleep

While hiking in the hills I came upon a mountain lion.

His name

Sugarbones Jones and he was carrying a watermelon.

He asked, "would you like to share this watermelon with me?"

I answer, "sure thing."

We sat side by side on a low log as he busted open this afternoon treat.

Sugarbones digs in with his wild cat hand and I pick with my sophisticated paw.

He squints and says, "lets compare"

We held out our arms marveling at the difference in each.

Sugarbones says, "for the life of me, I can't figure out how you do anything with those boney little things"

I felt compelled to confess, "Sugarbones, I don't really like watermelons."

"Well," he asked, "do you like squirrels?"

I scream as I lean in "I LOVE SQUIRRELS!"

He said, "I don't, they are tough and stringy."

I scream as I lean out "SUGARBONES, NOT TO EAT, TO WATCH!!!!"

and his reply

"Now Why

Would I

Do that?"

And we sat laughing on a log

My boney hand and his great paw
