Now tell me, is it possible for this phrase, found in a glossy magazine, to be grammatically correct?:
"...he says one day a few months ago..."
doesn't says imply current, now, present? so how can anyone says months ago? Or am I overthinking this? I tend to do that.
Yeah, probly I'm overthinking it.
Sigh.
No wonder I can't get to the front door washed and dressed, cats fed on a given morning, let alone have a book ready for submission by Jan 5 contest.

You are right! He said one day (comma) a few months ago...Actuall the whole statement is bad, and does not need the "one day". It should probably read, ..he said a few months ago... |

Well, it's an article about the mob, so if you want to correct him, go ahead... as for me, I like breathing too much to make a fuss LOL |

In context is could be correct. If the article is written in present tense, the subject of the article could be speaking in the present tense about something that occurred in the past. |

To me it just reads like dialogue. It's a typical speaking construction, right or wrong. I think it's okay to let characters violate grammar in dialogue as long as it's still intelligible. It tells me a lot about the speaker - including that he or she likes to talk and hear his or her own voice! |

It reads like dialog to me, as well, with colloquial undertones...kind of a Jersey, "'[Joey,]' he says[to me]." |
