My name is Alexis, and I am an author and web designer and developer. I launched my web design business in early 1997, when I finished the first draft of my novel, The Giuliana Legacy (HCI 2000). In 1999, I pioneered the concept of online social networking, creating a now-defunct community website for authors and publishers that can still be found on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. By 2001, my focus shifted to web development, with an emphasis on building ecommerce websites for interesting and innovative entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations.
But helping authors find their way and build their readership via the web has always been my primary focus, and keeping up with the latest Web 2.0 trends and social media applications has become almost a full-time job. The power these new technologies provide to authors has reenergized my commitment to providing superb author websites. The Author Shop, my new "cottage business," is the culmination of over a decade of hard-won expertise combined with the freshest ideas driving the Web today.
In the current ultra-competitive publishing climate, every author should have the website they truly need and be ready to harness the full power of our rapidly transforming World Wide Web. I am blessed with many wonderful author clients who have given me the opportunity to be their personal guide to the ever-expanding opportunities the Internet provides for building successful author platforms.
I have also been fortunate to create and maintain the numerous websites of the remarkable group behind San Francisco Writers Conferences. To serve my very own community in this way has been a true pleasure, and I will be here to help all of you as you explore, educate and express yourselves on this latest venture, SFWritersU.com.

I'll ask Alexis to check out why you're having problems with the site. I've been on it every day since its inception and haven't had a problem. Could be your browser, your computer, or us. The more specific you can be with Alexis when she contacts you, the better.
